“Hoard of Love,” my piece for Airlie Gardens “HeART of the Gardens” exhibition. 

 

My artist statement for the piece:
“In mythology dragons are known to be hoarders of treasure. In reality I believe humans to be hoarders of love. Whether from family, friends, pets, or even a stranger, we remember love that has been given to us. Love is the greatest treasure so maybe, just maybe, we each have a dragon inside us to protect it.”

My heart, as well as 12 other incredible hearts from other local artists, were on public exhibition all around the grounds of Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC from July 1st to October 31st, 2019.
